Major projects handled :


1 ) Projects : Relocation of 6 Banks coming under the Hongkong Shanghai
Banking Group in Tokyo

This involved complete IT planning of the new building, relocating two dealing floors, treasury operations, Front office and back office systems, Research department, Corporate finance department, banking systems,. LAN, WAN, communication equipments, lease lines.
This project involved streamline relocation of about 3000 PCs/2500 users and various systems over a weekend.
This project was of 80 man months and involved 22 people


2 ) Project : Migration from Quarterdeck Mail to Microsoft Exchange

My role was of a pilot for Microsoft Exchange migration from Quarterdeck Mail. This was a part of the migration strategy of BCG to shift from the MAC to the PC platform. Quarterdeck Mail was the earlier standard being used on MAC by BCG worldwide. It involved testing, planning, training and implementing the migration issues for the 43 BCG offices distributed worldwide. Had been to Hongkong for presentation of the migration plan and the strategy to be implemented by the Asia Pacific offices of the BCG. All the traveling Consultants and the office support staff communicate on the email system, which involves important data (Presentations decks) to be communicated worldwide through different gateways in different countries.
This project was of 110 man months and involved 46 people


3 ) Project : Creating Network infrastructure and linking 43 Worldwide
Remote offices of Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

My Role was of Network Planning and Installation.
Designed a Network by using Ethernet Standard on UTP. This involved configuring various LAN/WAN equipments likes Switches, Routers, Hubs, Modem banks, Servers ( Novell Netware ) and workstations (PCs and MAC). Both Mac and PCs where connected and IPX, TCP/IP, Appletalk coexistance was achieved on the network. Implemented Remote Booting, RAS and created User accounts for remote and local logins. Training to End-users. Acted as the liaison with the head office
This project was of 60 Man months and involved 6 people


4 ) Projects : Rollout of different softwares.

� Upgradation of 12 servers from Novell 3.12 to Novell 4.11
� Upgradation of 16 HpUX 9.0 servers to HPUX 10
� Unix based Financial Softwares Summit, Marketsheet for PC Users
� Software Images for Windows NT clients
� HSBC in-house developed softwares (Frontier systems, Hexagon, Restrictions III, MIDAS )
� Client Access for AS400 to integrate AS400 based systems like HUB, Treats, IMS
� Rollout of TM1, Pacific database,
� Antivirus software and its definition files upgrade
� Lotus Notes Domino server and Lotus Notes clients rollout.


5 ) Project : Network diagnostics using Cisco works and Optivity

SNMPc is fully integrated application for HP Openview ver 7.2. One can moniter and manage the devices and the network through CiscoWorks. The SNMPc features under HP openview are - Hubview, Bitview , RMON device support, TCP/IP applications (Telnet, TFTP, BootP) SNMPc node discovery,

Implemented Nodal View, Flatnet View and Segment View of the BS Network using Optivity 5.1. The full pictorial view of Synoptic's System 5005 is also available in it. Divided the 150 nodes into six different segments. The two Sunsparc stations are connected to each other using a cross UTP cable. As a result, the two servers are acting as a Router and that is why Motorola 6520 Router is able to talk with the other segments.


6 ) Project : Backup strategy using Legato?s Networker & Arcserve

Planned and implemented Backup Strategy for Novell servers, NT servers and important clients using Legato?s Networker 5.5.1. Configured Clients, Devices, Directives, Groups, pools and policies for the backup system. 18 clients totaling 120 Gb data size were designed to be backuped everyday using this system. System for offshore and onsite backup was set to practice. Objective of fast, reliable backup and fast recovery was the goal achieved.
